Why are some of Brazil’s poorest people voting for Lula in the election? – BBC News


Brazilians will vote on Sunday to elect their next president, in a competition between left-wing former President Lula da Silva and right-wing incumbent Jair Bolsonaro.

A lot of Brazilians are struggling financially due to Covid and the cost of living crisis, making poverty a huge election issue.

Claims about corruption, Covid, deforestation, and even cannibalism have grabbed also attention on the campaign trail ahead of the vote.
