Why are tomatoes being genetically altered for vitamin D? | BBC News

They look and taste like any other tomato, but these tomatoes in Norfolk have been genetically altered to contain more vitamin D.

Tomatoes traditionally lack being a good source for vitamin D, but these gene-edited contain an adult’s daily allowance in just four.
