For generations, the job of fetching water in India’s Thar desert has been down to women walking distances to wells.
One family said they currently make up to twelve trips during the day to fetch water from a well.
The Indian government has promised an ambitious scheme to bring piped water to one million people living in villages across this desert in Rajasthan.
For some, the water supply has been turned on, whilst others living in more remote and harder to reach areas are still waiting.
