Yoon Suk-yeol has been sworn in as the 13th president of South Korea.
Mr Yoon, a political novice, edged out a victory over the Democratic Party’s Lee Jae-myung based on promises to tackle class inequality.
But the result was one of the closest in the country’s history – with the final count separated by less than 1%.
He has pledged a tougher "reset" on relations with China and North Korea and intends to bolster the security alliance South Korea has with the United States.
