US President Donald Trump has put pressure on Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky ahead of their meeting at the White House later today.
Posting on his Truth Social platform, Trump said "President Zelensky of Ukraine can end the war with Russia almost immediately, if he wants to, or he can continue to fight”.
However, he added that Ukraine would not be able to reclaim the Crimean peninsula, illegally annexed by Moscow in 2014.
Zelensky said he is "confident" about security guarantees for Ukraine, as he landed in Washington, alongside leaders from at least five European countries who will join him at the White House in a show of unity.
The war in Ukraine still rages on as Russian forces continue to move slowly forward in the east, while air strikes killed at least five people overnight
