Israel is expanding its war in Lebanon, with further intensive airstrikes and thousands more ground troops deployed in a new zone in the south-west of the country.
Israel’s Prime Minister has warned Lebanon it risks a fate similar to Gaza. Benjamin Netanyahu urged the Lebanese people to “throw out Hezbollah” and avoid “destruction and suffering like we see in Gaza”.
Around 1,500 people are reported to have been killed in Lebanon and around a million displaced from their homes since Israel launched its recent offensive there.
Hezbollah, the armed group backed by Iran, has responded by firing more missiles at Israel.
